ANNUAL SALARY RANGE:   $35,200.00 - 52,800.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

SUMMARY

Responsible for electronic detection of all underground facilities owned by the City of Fort Collins. Includes electric, water/wastewater, storm drain, traffic signals, fiber and phone.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

 

  • Using maps, blueprints, construction plans, etc., locates underground lines and cables.
  • Marks and documents location of electric, water, wastewater, stormwater, traffic, fiber optic and telephone cables.
  • Operates and maintains electronic location equipment.
  • Operates power tools.
  • Routinely locates and works in close proximity to high voltage electric distribution lines and equipment.
  • Follows City, APPA, and Electric Utility personnel safety regulations and procedures.
  • Provides exceptional internal and external customer service, Maintains cooperative and compatible working relations with internal and external customers, employees, contractors, and managers.
  • Acts as a troubleshooter for the utility after hours, during emergencies, and on weekends.
  • Works overtime when required.
  • Tracks inventory.
  • Maintains records, documents, maps, and database.
  • May oversee, direct and train the work of temporary employees. 
  • May be required to assist distribution crews with outage/emergency situations or during periods of decreased work load.
