Colorado State University fans run rampant throughout Fort Collins. Whether you’re an alum, a proud parent, a current student, or just call Foco home and want to support the rams, there is no shortage of love for the green and gold in this community. Each year, CSU Athletics raises funds for student-athlete scholarships with the Ram Good Time Auction. The 2019 auction was the 38th annual and was held on April 13 at Canvas Stadium.

We R FoCo member Alpine Gardens, a premier landscaping company that services northern Colorado, had the opportunity to contribute their expertise to benefit CSU. In Fort Collins there are many ways for businesses to give back to the community and support other organizations. For Alpine Gardens, one of those organizations they support is the university and the Ram Good Time Auction.

Most of the management staff at Alpine Gardens has a personal connection to the university – they are alumni themselves! President of Alpine Gardens, Jack Fetig, received his degree from CSU in Forest Biology.  Nate Fetig (General Manager and Vice President) as well as his wife Heidi (Office Manager) both received degrees in Environmental Horticulture from CSU.  Kris Nylander (Sales Manager and Senior Designer) as well as Mark Stock (Commercial Division Manager) also received degrees in Landscape Design and Construction Management from CSU. The school set them up for success and prepared them for careers in the industry that they are passionate about, so the company gladly gives back every year.

“It feels really special to be able to support CSU and their student athletes in this manner.  Being involved year after year we’ve been able to witness just how meaningful and impactful giving back can be.  We’ve been able to meet so many great members of the Ram Family while investing in tomorrow’s leaders,” Kris Nylander said.

For the Ram Good Time Auction this year, Alpine Gardens donated an incredible ‘Outdoor Living Package’. One lucky bidder would be the winner of a paver patio of 250 square feet, an outdoor kitchen including a Basalite Neccessories Grand Island Bar with a BBQ grill, a low voltage LED landscape lighting system, and plants and mulch from Fossil Creek Nursery. The package of course included consultation services, delivery, and installation. Many materials for the package were donated from Denver Brass and Copper, Basalite, Fossil Creek Nursery, and Alliance Lighting.

Hundreds of community members and businesses came together to make yet another Ram Good Time Auction a wild success. Since its inception, the event has raised over $7 million for CSU student athlete scholarships. If you missed the festivities this year, don’t worry! The auction will be back in full force next year. If you’re looking to have your own ‘Outdoor Living Package’ created, contact Alpine Gardens at 970-226-2296 and begin designing the landscape of your dreams!
