When you step into Meraki Yoga, you enter a space intended to cultivate spiritual, physical, and mental well-being. This locally owned studio offers a wide range of classes for all levels of practitioners. Recently, co-owner Adrienne Hoxmeier gave some insight into the history and intention of the studio!
What does it mean to Meraki Yoga to be a family owned business?
Being a family owned business means we are that much more invested in the success of our studio, our vision and our mission not only for the health of our own families but that of our employees, our students, and the families they support as well. Our studio serves as a home away from home for so many people and it is with great privilege and responsibility that Rachael and I continue this work.
What unique challenges and special opportunities have come your way as a result of being a family owned business?
Our most unique challenge is navigating the world of franchise, corporate, and family owned studios and educating the community on the difference between the three.
Being included in things like We R Foco!
Why did you choose Fort Collins as the location for Meraki Yoga?
I am a Fort Collins native and Rachael might as well be! We both love this town and community and couldn’t imagine opening Meraki Yoga anywhere else.
When did Meraki Yoga open? Was the opening of your studio so close to the opening of the brewery (Gilded Goat) a challenge for your family?
We opened the studio in December of 2016. As one would expect opening both of these businesses within months of each other was a definitely a challenge.
Meraki Yoga is leading the charge of supporting small local businesses. Why is this important to you? What benefits do you think Meraki Yoga has seen from supporting the small businesses of our community?
We know that if we support our fellow small businesses Fort Collins will thrive! We believe that where your money goes matters and when you invest your money in a small business you invest in the people, their families, and their dreams and goals. We want to keep our money here in Fort Collins and are encouraging others to do the same by setting a good example in supporting locally owned businesses as often as possible.
What ties (outside of family ownership) do Meraki Yoga and Gilded Goat have?
We have a partnership (as we do with several locally owned businesses) with Gilded Goat that provides their employees a discounted membership rate and our employees a discount on beer! We also host Yoga on Tap classes one Saturday a month in the summer time which includes a 60-minute yoga class followed by a beverage of choice.
We R Foco is so lucky to have Meraki Yoga as a member and can’t wait to see where their love for this city takes them!
