Colorado is a place that is one-of-a-kind. You’ll find that if you navigate through each of its streets, you’ll encounter art, culture, adventure, good food, and sunsets that are mesmerizing beyond belief.
However, aside from it’s dreamlike charm, Colorado seems to attract people for an even better reason: Community.
The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado is a nonprofit, public foundation that is passionate about serving charitable causes and organizations. The Foundation arranges community projects, serves philanthropists and nonprofit organizations, and maximizes the impact of giving to help improve the quality of our community!
Last year, the Community Foundation distributed $12+ million in scholarships to support northern Colorado nonprofits! In addition, over 50 nonprofit organizations keep their endowments with the Community Foundation, as well as individuals and businesses who have established donor funds. To make all of this possible, the Community Foundation has more than 100 volunteers, a board of trustees, a president’s council, a regional development council and local committees.
Colorado Gives Day, created by the Community First Foundation in Denver, spreads awareness about nonprofits’ missions. It is a website that allows you to donate year-round and features more than 2,400 Colorado nonprofits. Since 2007, they have raised approximately $253 million for Colorado.
In 2013, the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado saw a great opportunity to become the NoCo champion of CGD. NoCo Gives directs users locally so they have the opportunity to give to 200+ nonprofits here in northern Colorado! In 2017, $1,684,317 was donated to Larimer County, which came from 153,000 donations statewide.
The NoCo Gives website is the only searchable database of Larimer County nonprofits and allows users to directly streamline their charitable donations to our area! This also can simultaneously give nonprofits lower costs (lower processing fees) and help them efficiently raise money. This ensures that no matter which nonprofit you choose to donate to, they will get a greater share of donations to put into directly serving Larimer County.
As Fort Collins continues to grow, it’s important to keep in mind how our community contributes to our charming city! We R Foco encourages you to participate in NoCo Gives/Colorado Gives Day on Tuesday, Dec. 4! Please consider supporting our We R Foco members – The Matthews House, Crossroads Safehouse, and Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity.
