Fort Collins Nursery Completes Expansion Project

Since 1932 Fort Collins Nursery has been serving its community as a local expert in all thing’s plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees. From their beginnings as a vegetable farm, to the family history of ownership in the Eastman family, this local business continues to grow in the hearts of Fort Collins natives as well as in space along the Mulberry corridor.

This past November, Fort Collins Nursery embarked on an expansion project to add over 7,500 square feet to their existing greenhouse. After a long and unfulfilling process to try to find an alternate site for their plant production operations, they turned their focus to their existing site and found the perfect solution to expand their greenhouse and retail space.

After almost five months of planning, permitting and construction the expansion, which was led by DS Constructors of Loveland, was completed on time for the spring planting season. The grand opening was held at their spring open house on April 27th and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

Fort Collins Nursery customers can now enjoy over 5,000 additional square feet of covered retail shopping in the greenhouse that was manufactured by Nexus Corporation in Northglenn, Colorado. In addition to this space, the nursery added a 2,500 square foot plant propagation house dedicated to expanding the plant offerings at Fort Collins Nursery. This climate-controlled space has automatic irrigation and will soon have specialized rolling plant benches designed to maximize our available growing space while allowing easy access to all the plants.

“The crops we grow there will vary depending on the season, with a focus on vegetable starts in spring and perennial plants throughout much of the rest of the year. This will allow us to grow more young plants that will eventually be sold in 1-gallon containers, reducing the amount of started plants we have to ship in from in-state and out-of-state growers,” Jesse Eastman, owner of Fort Collins Nursery said.

With this expansion, the nursery site on Mulberry Avenue now occupies a total of 9 acres; 3 acres of outdoor shopping space and 6 for plant propagation and growing fields. Its history runs deep in the roots of Fort Collins and they continue to spread their “branches” to great serve the growing community of gardeners in northern Colorado. If you’re looking for the best that mother nature has to offer, Fort Collins Nursery is sure to have it in store for you.
