ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $70,800.00 - 118,000.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Key Knowledge and skills:
Familiarity or experience with federal and state environmental permitting procedures
Familiarity or experience with endangered species reintroduction and management
Familiarity or experience with livestock grazing management to achieve ecological objectives.
The mission of the Natural Areas Department is to conserve and enhance lands with natural resource, agriculture and scenic values, while providing meaningful education and appropriate recreation opportunities.
The successful applicant will lead the Department’s Planning and Special Projects group. This senior level, supervisory position is responsible for all strategic, management, restoration, and recreation planning. In addition, special projects are managed by, or under the direction of, this position. Success in this position will require the ability to collaborate deeply with internal and external partners. A high level of technical expertise and experience is required in natural resource management; biological restoration; and, Western water law and administration. The candidate must have excellent leadership, writing and speaking skills.
Audiences for communication, engagement, and relationship-building include state and federal agencies, members of the public, advocacy groups, citizen advisory boards and City Council. The position will represent Natural Areas in regional and local planning efforts. The position is suited for an experienced, self-directed, disciplined natural resource professional with a creative nature that is paired with a relentless commitment to conservation, community engagement, and continuous improvement.

This position is responsible for the supervision of City employee(s).
