Otter Shop Closes Their Doors to Volunteer Locally

On Thursday, February 21st, Otter Shop is partnering with The OtterCares Foundation to host a special volunteer day: Do Good (Closed2Open). Closing their doors to open their hearts, all Otter products locations around the world are pausing their regular work days  to volunteer with local organizations that can impact kids’ lives!

The Fort Collins’ Otter Shop team will be working with We R FoCo on this special day, and are also inviting Northern Colorado residents to come and participate. The event will take place at Everyday Joe’s Coffee House, and volunteers will be assembling classroom kits for an organization called Resource Area For Teaching (RAFT) Colorado.

RAFT has a mission to connect thousands of Colorado teachers. They offer personal coaching, practical workshops, inspiring institutes, and interactive events. They are a professional resource that was designed to help provide teachers hands-on learning opportunities that are  fun, engaging, and academically rewarding.

Every year, most teachers spend at least $500 of their own money to help with classroom materials. RAFT is able to help change this, and also simultaneously can make a difference in the environment. By gathering unwanted items from local businesses and recycling them into interesting and unique learning activities, RAFT was able to divert 30,000 cubic feet of Colorado landfill waste in 2018. This in turn enabled teachers to spend less of their own money while still being able to gain more classroom opportunities.

There are three different volunteer shifts that Northern Colorado residents can sign up for:

9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M.

11:00 A.M. – 1:30 P.M.

1:30 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.

If you are interested in  volunteering, helping our Colorado classrooms on a personal level, and encouraging our future generations to dream and innovate, you can sign up here to help make a difference locally!
