Let’s offer up a big We R FoCo welcome to the newest member of our community, Dr. Heather Parks of Impact Chiropractic! We’re so excited to welcome her to Fort Collins all the way from Binghamton, New York.
Dr. Heather is originally from upstate New York, where she received her undergraduate degree, and then moved south to Atlanta to earn her Doctor of Chiropractic degree. After completing an internship in Chicago, she moved to Fort Collins on a whim – her first time to the city was the day she moved in.
Like the other doctors at Impact, Dr. Heather specializes in prenatal and pediatric care and has extra training working with kids with neurological disorders. She has extensive training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and is Webster certified.
We think Dr. Heather will fit right in with our community because she’s dying to get involved and meet new people. “From a chiropractic standpoint, I want to tell everyone about chiropractic and pediatric chiropractic! As a doctor, there’s so many opportunities to make new connections and meet business-owners throughout the community. I’m just looking to build those connections and share my passions with people to make this place feel like home.”
Impact Chiropractic has already positioned itself as experts in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic care, but Dr. Heather has brought brand new ideas and ambitions with her from across the country. “While I’m passionate about babies, kids, and women, I really love working with young women. People always say that it’s so rewarding to be able to work with babies, but I want to take it a step further and start with mom. If her body is working properly before the baby is even conceived, and then work with her throughout the pregnancy, this will make the baby so healthy from the start.” Heather imagines working with young women to empower them about their bodies and their fertility by bringing them to the office for an event series. Different topics would be addressed each month (follow Impact Chiropractic for more details in the future)!
Of course, everyone has to take a break from work sometimes. When not in the office, Dr. Heather can be found out and about hiking, biking, or (most likely) shopping for new plants. “I get about 8 new plants every time I go somewhere,” she admits. She’s ready to fully embrace the outdoorsy Colorado lifestyle and is up for learning some new hobbies. Being done with school means she has a lot of free time to get into kayaking, paddle boarding, spend more time cooking, and travel to new places!
“There’s a saying in the chiropractic world that you don’t choose it, it chooses you. I think it was fate that I became a chiropractor. In high school, I had never been adjusted before and never knew anything about it – I just thought it would be a cool profession. I ended up falling in love with it. I had no idea what I was in for, but it’s been a great journey, and I’m so happy to be a part of this career. I think it’s probably one of the most rewarding health care professions because while you do see people at their lows, you also get to see them through the journey and at their best as well! For example, you can see a kid struggling with anything. Then to see them start thriving in different environments that they’ve never done well in before, and knowing you’ve made a huge impact on their life, is amazing!”
Welcome to Fort Collins, Dr. Heather! We’re glad you’re here.
